There is a 59 mile footpath
laid out in 1951,
by Explorer Scouts from Williamsport
so that we all could have some fun!
Heading North from Montoursville
you must follow Rt 87.
Then look for the path of the "Little Bear"
that parallels a trout fishermen's Heaven.
Turn up Little Bears gravel road
and begin your search for his headquarters,
then find a place to park your car
along the "LB" creek borders.
Your search continues by foot here
on the Peter's Path portion of "the sock".
Start on the south side of the bridge
for the trail is not far from where trout are stocked.
Head South 50 paces
from the Peter's Path sign,
to the 4th "LT" painted red and yellow
hung along the well manicured tree line.
Take a reading with your compass
of 250°,
and walk 10 paces over
to a gathering of three tall trees.
Take notice of the one tree
that has a marking of bright green...
you will be just like the bear himself
looking for a trout amongst the rocks of the stream.
The treasure you are looking for
is hidden at the base of this pretty green tree.
It is a hand carved stamp we made ourselves,
and we are anxious for you to see!
* 1 pace is equal to 2 football size steps
Just a note to help out seekers of the box the bright green is growing on a tree and not a paint mark. And I think that its closer to the third trail sign and not the fourth. Headquarters are a garage (I think it's PENNDOT) behind a gate you have to park here and cross the property to the tree line here starts Peter's path.
