This letterbox is located on the southern portion of the 8.6 Mile Homestead Trail. It is about 3/4 of a mile (roundtrip) and is child and pet friendly, though not stroller friendly.

If you are arriving from the north, take the Interquest Pkwy. exit (#153) from I-25. Head east and take a right on Powers Blvd. Head south on Powers Blvd. and take a right (west) onto Constitution Avenue. Take a right (north) on Oro Blanco Drive. Park at the top of the hill near house # 2690 (there is a crosswalk here). It should take approximately 20 minutes of travel time from I-25.

If you are arriving from the south, take the Academy Blvd exit (#135) from I-25. Head north on Academy Blvd crossing Fountain, Platte, and Palmer Park Blvd. Make a right (east) on Constitution Avenue and cross Murray Blvd. Take a left (north) on Oro Blanco Drive. Park at the top of the hill near house # 2690 (there is a crosswalk here). It should take approximately 20 minutes of travel time from I-25.

Head west (toward the mountains) on Homestead Trail which at this point is loose blacktop. Walk past the open field on your left which contains two antennas. Bear left at the end of the split rail fence surrounding the antenna field onto a dirt path. Head down the dirt path noticing the beautiful lilac hedge on your left. Continue west across the street but be careful as there isn't a crosswalk here.

Head up the hill, notice the great view of Pikes Peak. As you walk down the hill you will walk past a white fence on your right. Head up another hill past another white fence on your left. As you reach the top of the hill, stop and admire the view of the Front Range. The Air Force Academy Chapel can be seen to your right and Cheyenne Mountain to your left. Also notice the wild Colorado prairie grass on your right.

You should be standing next to a two trunked, dead, birch/aspen tree on your right with a small pine tree at it's base. Look under the rock at the base of the tree.

Once you return to your car, you might want to consider exploring the northen portion of the Homestead Trail.
