Difficulty: Easy. Short walk on non-paved trail.
South of Bend is the Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory. As tourists from Aspen, CO, we thought this sounded interesting; and it was! This is my first micro/mini-box. I was attempting to place it somewhere magnetically, but couldn't find one single place to do it in the Nature Center - shucks! On highway 97, drive south from Bends and follow signs to the Nature Center. On the way, you'll pass a field of lava on the right that that looks like giant plops of mud - cool!
Park Information: In the spring, the nature center is open from 10-4 or 5. Solar viewing and observatory are only available on Saturdays. Admission rates for the interpretive nature trail, nature center, botanical garden, and seasonal solar viewing is just $2 for adults and $1 for children. However, summer admission rates begin at the end of May (and I don't know what those rates are). If you have any questions, you may contact the Nature Center at 541-593-4394 or at www.sunrivernaturecenter.org. The staff is excited that letterboxers will bring in more financial support, so let them know that you're there to letterbox!
CLUES:
Predatory birds trail
Past 4
Sit with Delores Hamil
Scoot away from the eagle
No one watching
Nestled in the earth beneath your bum
First finder will find another "Hamil's" friend.
