THE JEFFRIES RANCH COMMUNITY

Dr. C.W. Jeffries developed this community in 1975. At the time it was a unique idea. Many original Jeffries Ranch owners are still residents and friends of the family. The original acreage was 267 acres and was bought in 1975 by the Jeffries family. The equestrian theme is extended in nearby subdivisions that have complemented Jeffries Ranch by adopting, by reference, the Jeffries Ranch name even though not a part of our original subdivision. Nearly the entire area of east Oceanside near the Guajome Regional Park is now referred to as Jeffries Ranch. With an award winning elementary school, construction on new magnet high schools and nearby Home Depot, new condos and equestrian trails through out the entire area, Jeffries Ranch is a unique and wonderful place to call home!

From hwy 76 east, exit Melrose, turn right and pass the Home Depot on the corner. At the dead end, turn left on to Spur. Park in Mission Elementary School parking lot, or on the street. There is an equestrian trail to the west of the parking lot. Follow the equestrian trail behind the school and that follows behind the houses. There will be a small break in the path with a smaller path leading through thick underbrush. Do not take this smaller path, but continue in the direction you were going. At the large break in the trail, go right. Continue to follow white fences and then the black rought iron fence until it ends. At this break, follow the small path into the woods. Cross the rocks that allow you to cross the stream. Follow the stream to the right. Swing on the swing attached to the large trees. Pretend you are a kid again! Continue up the hill a few steps to the fallen tree. Immediately to the right of the fallen tree-, look up to the tree on your right.. This tree kind of looks like legs going straight up into the air, with the trunk being the 'torso.' (like someone standing on their head.) You will find the box in the 'naughty bits' of the leggy tree. After you have found the box, go back the way you came but turn right onto the main trail. Follow to the sidewalk and turn right. Walk the neighborhood and enjoy the views as you walk up the hill and back down again. Return to the trail you came from. At the break, where you went to cross the creek, turn right this time, past the small gate and up the hill between the houses. At the street, continue straight and follow the trail again. Say hi to the horses on the corner. At the street, turn left. Follow the bridle trail/sidewalk back down the hill to the school and your car. This is about 3 miles round trip.
