Box determined missing, Spring 2008.

Want to try some apple pie? Apple fritters? Or any other of the myriad of apple concoctions on hand each fall at the Hilton Apple Fest? This festival occurs in my hometown in late September or early October each year and celebrates the local bounty with hundreds of craft booths, live music, petting zoos, and of course, lots of lot of food (and not all of it contains apples).

Hilton Village Park
225 West Ave
Hilton, NY

To find this letterbox, first drive by the Community Center at the corner of Henry Street and West Avenue in the village of Hilton. This is the home of the actual festival, but the letterbox resides a little further down the street. Find the Hilton Village Park on Younker Lane behind the Quest Elementary School. Drive behind the school and park at the Jennejahn Lodge.

Walk down the hill towards the large concrete bridge the straddles the creek. Cross the bridge and you will soon spot a smaller, wooden bridge. Do not cross this second bridge; instead, count 35 steps past the bridge and look for a path on your left. A log marks one side of this uphill path. As you ascend the hill, you'll notice that logs define both sides of the path. Keep heading east on the path.

Stop when you come to an intersection that cuts to your left. In front of you will be the start of grassy yards and neighborhood homes. At the intersection, find 30 degrees and walk 18 steps to find the Hilton Apple Fest nestled amongst some fallen logs.
