Starting point: Tomahawk Pond... a scenic little pond 3 miles south of Orkney Springs, VA.
Accessible from the South: From Route 259 turn North onto Runions Creek Road (right if you were heading West on 259, left if you were heading East on 259), Follow Runions Creek Road to Tomakawk Pond Picnic Area on the right side (Runions Creek Road eventually becomes Orkney Springs Road-610)
or Accessible from the North: Take route 263 West through Basye, Turn left onto Orkney Springs Road (Rt. 610), Follow 610 for about 1 1/2 miles staying to the right when it forks, Stay on 610 for about 1 1/2 more miles to the Tomahawk Picnic area.

* This letterbox has a neighbor, Orkney's Butterfly Landing, which can also be reached by parking at Tomahawk Pond*

Once you have arrived at the parking area, stretched, and put your letterboxing face on, head back to the road you came in on.
Walk (carefully!) south on the road approximately 80 yards to the trailhead of the Hunkerson Gap Trail. It's clearly marked.
Enjoy an easy 10 minute hike on the trail (very slightly uphill). You will eventually come to an old fire road... if you are not wrong, you will look in *this* direction and see a jumble of rocks not too far away. There is a pirate tree nearby which only has one blue eye left (the other was lost while plundering small villages). Walk up to the rocks just before you get to the tree. You will see, on the hill above the rocks, an old section of a fallen tree trunk. In the middle of all of this wood, and hidden by leaves, you'll find the Gobbler.
**Please cover the box with leaves when finished... and remember to tread lightly and pack out what you pack in!**
