Difficulty: Easy
Distance: About 250 yards
Status of minibox: Alive and well on 9/11/2007
The "Blue Plate Special" minibox is located in Canyon Rim Woodlands Trail. The parking doesn't look great, but the hike is nice in the woods.
Directions:
From Burkeville, go north on Hwy 87 for about 10 miles to R255. Continue another 1.5 miles where a sign on the road marks the left turn into the parking lot for Canyon Rim Woodlands Trail on the west side of Hwy 87.
To the Minibox:
From parking, start down trail to Trail Sign at T-juction. Go right on Trail #3. Pass a bench on the right, and decend down hill for about 200 yards (passing a downed tree - if still there) until you reach a smooth tree on the right side of the trail with a sign in front of it that says "Do not deface trees". If sign is gone, the tree has a circular defacing on it about 6 feet up. From that tree, go off trail down the hill for 18 steps (crossing a log) to another smooth tree. Box is hanging on the back side of this tree, about 3 feet up.
