Cattail Box - last checked 4-01-10 MISSING!
Veterans Memorial Park, Richfield
Enter Park at 64th Street and Portland Avenue
Park in the lot and find the yellow information sign by the picnic shelter. Head east (right) and take the path to your left before the playground equipment (towards Port-O-Potty in Summer). This path will take you behind the concession building and curve around towards the cattails.
Long way (about 3/4 mile)
There will be a path on your left that heads east, it is a "floating path" through the cattails. Look for a beaver hut hidden on your right near the middle of the lake. When the floating path ends (.23m), turn right onto the pedestrian path. Keep right and walk about .22 m until you reach a "Y" in the path. Take the left path, stop at the bench marked "Geri Zopf", go 26 paces. Look for a large fallen tree trunk on your right. The box is hidden under the trunk next to the smaller, upright V-shaped tree. There are several other paths around the lake if you want to walk more, several maps are posted marking the trails.
Short path
Keep walking until you come to a "Y" with a park bench marked "Geri Zopf", go 26 paces. Look for a large fallen tree trunk on your right. The box is hidden under the fallen tree trunk next to the smaller, upright V-shaped tree.
