City-County Park is where you will find these two gems. In October, this rustic park is host to the "Shadows of the Blue and Gray" Civil War Re-enactment. This is an exciting way to experience, in person, the Civil War - complete with battles, encampments, bands, and much more! To learn more about this incredible event go to http://www.shadowsbluegray.com/.

The entrance to the park is located on Rt.26, a couple miles north of Princeton. Just north of the road leading to the Red Covered Bridge, you will see the park entrance on your right. Two large stone pillars will welcome you here. From mid-Nov to mid-April, the park is closed to vehicle traffic, but open to pedestrians, so you might have to park by the gate and go it on foot. It is about a 5 minute walk to the center of the park.

After you pass the first set of rock pillars, the tree-lined road will lead you toward 2 more sets of rock pillars. Make your way to the log cabin and check it out! Lincoln would have enjoyed the beautiful fireplace inside. This cabin was built many years ago by the local Boy Scouts. To the east. just past the restrooms, you'll see the field used for the battle re-enactments. Head to the playground. When you get there, follow the nearest treeline as it curves around and back. Travel until you can line up the orange, curly slide and the restrooms. You should now be standing under the branches of a large old oak tree. Stand on the creekside of this oak and look towards the field. See the long root that heads to the right? What you seek is hidden in one of its large craters.

Please enjoy the contents, reseal baggies and close the container tightly. Now you are ready to find the "bonus track" box.

As you leave, go past the cabin and toward the rock pillars. Just before the pillars, you'll come to a tall flag pole. From the pole take 2 steps north, dial your compass to 290°-- follow this bearing to the treeline and hidden in the woods, in an abandoned light pole, is the bonus track. Please cover and rehide as found.

Be on the watch for ticks and poisonous plants!!
