From the 5 freeway going south, exit Jamboree and go left. Take Jamboree to Irvine Blvd. and go right. Go left on Central Park. From the 5 freeway going north, exit Culver and go right. Take Culver to Irvine Blvd. and go left. Go right on Central Park.
Turn left on Viewpark and turn right into the Hicks Canyon Elementary School. Go left and park at the far end of the parking lot. Cross Viewpark on foot and make a right on the sidewalk. You will have the Solana Apartment Homes on your left.
Take either the dirt or paved path and continue straight ahead. This is the Hicks Canyon Trail. Look for a person on a horse and a bridge. Cross the bridge and go right. This is the Peters Canyon Trail. If you have a stroller or kids on bikes (this is a great biking area), you might want to take the paved path right instead of crossing the bridge and going right.
Keep an eye out for the duck couple that live in the canal. When the dirt path meets the paved path, go left approximately 45 paces on the paved path. You will see a paved path on your right. Go 3/4 up the path and look to your left for a tree with 3 trunks. The Letterbox is hidden behind the tree. It is covered with leaves and twigs.
Be discrete, this is a very popular area for bikers, walkers and joggers.
