This Mandeville Butterfly Box is in a lovely place. Our letter box is located in beautiful, historic "Old Mandeville" in Mandeville Cemetary.
Exit I-12 heading south towards New Orleans and the Lake Ponchartrain bridge on Hwy. 190. Right before the bridge, exit "Monroe Street" and travel East. Monroe Street will dead end. Take that left onto Lamarque Street. Take the next right on Livingston Street. Then a left on Foy Street (You will see an Elementary School on your right). Continue 1/2 block until you see the Tammany Trace bike trail, and take a right there. You will see the Mandeville Cemetary in that corner.
Enter the Cemetary. Go to the big Gazebo in the center. Stand at the opening way of the Gazebo. There will be seven benches encircling the Gazebo. Look north towards the bench at 9:00. Butterfly box is located behind bench in bushes.
Be courteous to others who may be visiting loved ones. Be on the lookout for the "Butterfly Surprise", but don't give away the secret! (The Butterfly box was missing in late 07/early '08, but we replaced it with a new one today!)
New information: Box is missing AGAIN! (2/25/09). We will post a new location for the box soon. This location is not reliable and we apologize!
