From the Route 81 Exit at Mt. Jackson Exit take Route 263 west. As you travel on Route 263, you will pass the intersection of Route 42. 4.3 miles past the intersection, on route 263, you will see a sign on the left for Lake Laura.

Turn left at the sign onto Arnold Road. You will drive past the pool, picnic tables and volleyball court to the parking lot.

From the parking lot, take the stairs up to the top of the dam. At the Lake Laura dam sign the trail splits, stay to the left. The trail will bear right, widen and become graveled. Follow the trail up to the lake swimming and boating area.

Go straight on the trail past the swimming area. You will pass several houses on the left before your journeys end. As the trail starts to head downhill you will notice a manhole on the left by a service road. The trail will go downhill, round a cove and up again.

At the fourth house past the manhole look to the right of the trail. You will see a tree with hardware cloth wrapped around the trunk. If you need to rest there is a bent tree here perfect for sitting on. After your rest, head 19 paces downhill on the trail, look to your left. About 21/2 paces off the trail you will see two maple trees growing from one base. Look under the rocks to find the box.

This is a leisurely 10 minute walk from the swimming area. As you pass the house with the wishing well, look to your right and notice the high water sign on the tree just past the birdhouse.
