Around the globe, the Chinese New Year celebrations will take place based on February 18th 2007, which is the start of the Lunar New Year. Preparations for the New Year often begin during the last month of the lunar year. It is an auspicious occasion, and great detail is taken in its readiness. The home must be cleaned thoroughly. The past year's dirt is swept away, and clutter is straightened out. This is done so that negative aspects of the past year are not brought forward to the New Year. New clothes and new shoes are worn to usher in the New Year. Special foods are carefully prepared.

In Chinese Astrology there are five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) and twelve animals (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig) forming a complete cycle of sixty. This means there are five different types of Pig years: wood pig, fire pig, earth pig, metal pig and water pig. 2007 is a Fire Pig year.

The Pig is a fun and enlightening personality blessed with patience and understanding. People born under the sign of the Pig enjoy life and all it has to offer, including family and friends. They are honest and thoughtful and expect the same of other people. Pigs can be perceived as oblivious or gullible because they do care about others so much that they will do just about anything for a friend in need.

General Pig characteristics: Perfect friend, gallant, aims to please, loyal, trustworthy, heart of gold with rough exterior, tender, sensual, lustful, passionate, takes things easy, polite but a spendthrift, easily deceived.

INFLUENTIAL ELEMENTS for specific Pig years:
1947 (and 2007) FIRE: 22 Jan 1947 to 9 Feb 1948 - Traits: Sensual, Energetic, and Pig-headed

1959 EARTH: 18 Feb 1959 to 27 Jan 1960 - Traits: Contented, Friendly, and Practical

1971 METAL: 27 Jan 1971 to 15 Jan 1972 - Traits: Pushy, Energetic, and Outgoing

1983 (and 1923) WATER: 13 Feb 1983 to 1 Feb 1984 - Traits: Persuasive, Peaceful, and Perceptive

1995 (and 1935) WOOD: 31 Jan 1995 to 18 Feb 1996 - Traits: Good-hearted, Devious, and Subtle

CLUES:
The gallant pig was being honored at the C. Hwa restaurant in Waukesha. In the midst of the festivities he decided to get a breath of air, so he stepped outside and started strolling northeast. He saw another restaurant not far away, and headed towards it. It seemed to feature some images of his ancestors. However as he approached, he was shocked to see that this facility honored his relatives in quite a different way! He realized he had been too gullible and started squealing in terror as he trotted back down Main Street. He quickly came to Davidson Road and headed south on it, then east.

The perceptive piggie then noticed a park sign: illcrestHay arkPay. His practical nature told him this might be a good place to hide, so he turned in to the entrance. However he did perceive the devious spelling and wondered what was the reason for this. He trotted to a brown building and then noticed a flagpole with a nearby concrete base, He approached it and due to his peaceful and good-hearted nature, was surprised to read about the history of the park and an explanation of the structures near him, However it DID explain the strange spelling and he now understood why codes made sense in this place. To find the pig, you must decode the following:

Tandsay atay hetay etallicmay tructuresay anday eadhay ownday hetay illhay, urntay asteay eforebay eachingray hetay encefay anday enteray hetay oodsway. Ocatelay a ellowyay ostpay ithway a “oday otnay isturbday” ignsay. Anay arroway ointspay otay hetay igpay leepingsay inay a allenfay oglay, itequay earnay hetay ostpay.

You may want to start (or end) your search at the C. Hwa Chinese restaurant at 1947 E Main Street or, since it IS the year of the PIG, at Famous D’s at 2137 E Moreland Blvd.
