July 2007: the box is retired
Somebody thought this was a geocache, and traded my stamp for some earrings. When I went to replace the stamp, there had been some trees cut down and the box was missing. I recarved the stamp, but will have to replace the box on my next trip.
While traveling W on I-40, take a break at the rest area near mile marker 178.
Park at the "cars with trailers" area. You'll see a large holly bush, then a tree next to the last picnic table before the exit. Stand by the tree, take 10 paces towards the exit. Turn right. Go 15 paces to the edge of the streamlet. At the base of the tree with a double trunk under some sticks and leaves is your little box. The logbook is tiny, so you should sign only if you have a large stamp.
