Warning: do not attempt to search for this letterbox at night. Illegal border activities may happen in this general area.

This box is placed near the abandoned community of Freeman which once consisted of a few traveler services along the old highway. From I-8 east of Gila Bend, take exit 140 and drive south on Freeman Road. When you arrive at a T-intersection, turn right on the old paved road. This is old State Highway 84. Drive about 0.2 miles to the second dirt pullout on the left side of the road. From this pullout, there is a dirt road going off to the south.

From the pullout, walk across the paved highway to a moderate size Palo Verde Tree on the north edge of the old highway. From the north side of this tree, go at about 6 degrees (from mag. north) for about 38 steps to a large Palo Verde Tree. From the west side of this tree, go at about 284 degrees for about 13 steps to a low linear outcrop of dark reddish rock. The box is in a hidey hole under the west side of the highest rock covered with a small rock. Be alert for snakes.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please rehide the box well under the rock so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often, so please let me know if you find it and/or if it needs attention or is missing:

This box is in my “I-8 Series”. The other boxes in the series are: “Mohawk”, and “Yuma Prison”.
