WEAVER'S NEEDLE
DISTANCE: ABOUT 6 - 8 MILES ROUNDTRIP
ROUGH ROCKY, ANKLE TURNING TRAIL BUT WORTH IT - BEAUTIFUL VISTAS
GO ONLY IN COOL WEATHER

YOU MUST PURCHASE A TONTO PASS BEFORE ENTERING THIS AREA and Geocachers, please do not remove the stamp.

This letterbox is hidden in the Supersition Mountains on the Peralta Canyon Trail. Even though it is rocky and somewhat strenuous, it is worth it to see the beauty in this canyon. There are balancing rock formations, spires, hoodoos - this place has it all. Very popular trail.

Sign in at the trailhead and head up the trail for a several miles. When you get there you will know it because many people stop at this spot to eat their lunch and view Weaver's Needle .. Look right - some folks sit on the right in the shade of boulders but you want to go left to another shady area where they are some very comfortable boulders to sit on. Behind the boulders are some bushes that I was told is a Rosewood tree. (Looked like an Oleander to me) Climb up behind these bush/trees and the tree you want is the one at the back easiest to get to. This tree is 8 to 10 feet tall. Then ...very discreetly look under the rocks at the base of the tree. The box is covered very well, so keep looking.

To get to this trailhead - From Phoenix, head out Superstition Freeway (HWY 60) toward Apache Junction to milepost 204. Turn left (North) onto Peralta Road. After about a mile, the road turns into a washboard road. Don't bring your best car!! Go 7.2 miles to the parking lot and bathroom. You must first buy a Tonto Pass to enter this area. No water is available so bring your own. There is now another letterbox along this trail....it is called Hombre.

Please contact me and give me the status of this box.
