The first stage of my geocache is close by.

Start out at the Scott's Preserve, the Rocklot. This is a public path owned and maintained by the Redding Land Trust. It is directly across the street from Mine Hill Road in Redding, CT. You can park your car on Mine Hill Rd. Climb over the stone wall and enter the path. You will see a sign depicting several paths. You should follow Joan's Trail; which is toward the right. First go thru the Pine Tree Path. There will be white marks on the trees leading you on your journey. After the Pine Tree path, pass over another stone wall. The sign for Joan's Trail will be on the right at the intersection of Joan's Trail and Duncan Munroe. Keep right on Joan's Trail. Soon you will see a large tree with a split at its base. Start counting the white marks immediately after you see this. The first white mark is somewhat faded, the remaining 3 are clearly marked. At the fourth mark, you will see a tree on the left that resembles an elephant's trunk;it is growing sideways. Keep going and start counting the white marks again. Between the fifth and sixth white mark look for a birdhouse on the left. Walk toward it and just keep going straight [ 140 magnetic ] until you reach the first stone wall from the birdhouse. There rests Skull O Scott under a rotten dewey tree and buried under the roots of a live tree. Good Luck!
