Two Happy Grasshoppers!
Enjoy a fun filled day outside at a local park! If you are letterboxing with children, be sure to bring a bathing suit because there is a pool.
To get to the park turn off of Herkimer Rd. in North Utica, onto Euclid. The park will be on your left behind a large drug store.
Pull into the lot with the yellow posts as barriers. There will be basketball courts on your right. Take some time to play on the playground and swing on the swings. Run through the field and you may stir up some grasshopper in the warmer months.
Once you have tired yourself out, why not go relax with a picnic? Walk through the opening between two baseball fields to get to the pavilion with the picnic tables. Sit down and stop for lunch. When you are done, take out your compass. Stand in the pavilion so that your back is to the rest rooms and you are facing the cemetery. Walk to the end of the pavilion closest to the cemetery. Place your right should against the right end post and get a bearing of 280 degrees on your compass.
Walk until you get to a metal post across from the cemetery fence. Walk down the alley between the two fences, counting post on your left as you go. When you get to the seventh (and last) post, turn so that you are lined up with a large tree at the edge of the cemetery.
Walk forward and you should find three small trees with a large rock in front of them. Buried beneath sticks, stones, and leaves, in the crook of the three trees, you will find what you are looking for.
Please re-cover well when replacing the box and remember to be sneaky as this is a busy place in the nice weather!
