Rainbow Tree in Sycamore Grove Park. Go to the Arroyo Road parking lot across from the Wente Winery. Have $3 in bills or quarters for the parking fee. Park and start at the paved path. Walk around the old bridge ruins, or walk under the bridge and turn right to walk up the path to the top. Turn left and follow the path along the fenceline for about a quarter of a mile (?) to the wooden footbridge.
Cross the bridge over the stream, and continue straight ahead for 15 or 20 steps. Look at the big green iron gate on the left. From the gate count eleven thin metal fence posts. Stand with your back toward the eleventh one and look across the road at the sycamore tree. You will notice an arched branch pointing toward the bridge. Behind the arched branch you will see another larger arched branch (it looks more like a tree trunk) touching the ground. At the end of that branch, tucked deep in the leaves you will find the box. It is about 20 or 25 steps from the road. Watch your step. Bring the box out to the road to do your work in the log books because it will be too easy to lose something in the leaves and weeds. Have fun! Be sure to put the box back as it is described here. The Pine Tree Island box is hidden nearby.
