6/2013 Received two messages that the box is missing but have not been able to confirm it. Will update clues once I check on it. Please let me know if you have success if you choose to stop to try to find it. Thanks!
Did you see the U-Haul truck across the Hudson River??? Perhaps I’ve watched too many animated movies with my kids, but I have a vision of how the precariously perched truck atop the U-Haul building got there.
This letterbox is located in the Riverfront Park.
Directions: From I-787 via Exit 23 toward Downtown Albany / Rensselaer / Troy.
Take US 9-S / US-20 E exit 3 toward Rensselaer. Take the ramp, following the Amtrak train station signs (but you’re not going there unless you have other plans). At the end of the ramp turn left onto Broadway then almost an immediate left into Riverfront Park.
Clues: As you enter the Riverfront Park, park your vehicle close to the Ace Hardware Store. Follow the paved walkway until you are under the underpass where you can admire the painted murals. As you walk through the overpass spot a seemingly senseless black post in front of you. Perhaps you need to stop there to scrape off your shoe and if you tap your foot underneath hopefully something will come dislodged. There are 2 stamps and I marked dots on the back to give you an idea where to line them up.
Please be discreet when you replace the box. Thanks for being cautious!!
