*** Reported missing June 2008!!!

There once was a letterbox by this name (not ciphered, of course), but a while ago the clue went missing and when I went looking for the box, I could not find it. So, I planted this one instead.

This box is dedicated to my fellow letterboxers Fox-Fyr and Lnd-Crzr, who have taught me so much in just a few short months. Both have fueled my imagination and helped me improve my craft and cipher skills along the way. So, of course there is a hand-carved stamp and a home-made logbook at the end of the hunt. The hike is fairly short and both kid and pet friendly, but be warned, this spot can be busy. So, be sure to be discreet and always follow proper rehideation. After you are done return to the main trail and follow it all the way around if you have time. This park is a geologic wonder and is best explored up close, weaving in and out among its many wondrous sights, shapes and textures.

To discover where this letterbox is located you will need to use an ancient cipher square. See the clue for the Devil’s Kitchen (http://www.letterboxing.org/BoxView.php?boxnum=20725&boxname=Devil's_Kitchen) to find out more about how to solve this cipher. You will need to use it throughout the clue.

Park at northern end of parking area and walk north through the

Continue northerly until the path splits and you see a large boulder protected by a C and the start of the

Follow the right path and cross a wooden bridge. Continue down the trail until you come to a round seat made of pink stones. Directly behind round seat is a side trail heading roughly 160º. Follow it and you’ll quickly come to a larger unpaved trail. Go left but look quick. After only a few paces, take the first side trail on your right. Follow this trail running approximately 150º for 30 paces to a short but long boulder on the right. Head 9 paces at 120º from the boulder’s arête to as long stone ramp. Head 70º up the ramp and continue up and over the second shorter but steeper ramp on top. From the top of the second ramp go three paces to the end of the boulder on the left. Go 8 paces at 40º toward a large rocky finger. Your prize waits at the base of the finger in a stone cairn behind a large, round, pink rock.

Please let me know how this box is holding up by contacting the placer. I can’t check this box that often, so I always like to hear an update on how it is doing.
