Begin by finding a complete copy of the prize story of the “Philadelphia Dollar Newspaper”, June 21-28 1843. (Google, (www.pambytes.com is NOT a complete text)). Read it and cleverly decode the cryptic clues at the bottom. YOU WILL NEED A SPOOL OF TWINE AT LEAST TEN YARDS LONG.
Driving Instructions: From the freeway take the Argonne exit 287. Go south. Argonne crosses Sprague and Appleway and turns in to Dishman Mica.
Head south on Dishman Mica until you come to Schafer. Turn right and follow it until it ends at 44th. Turn right. Go past Woodruff. The road after Woodruff is a left on Farr. You can’t see it because of the trees but it’s there. Go down it then turn right on Herman. Follow to the end (don’t take the private property road) and find a place to park. You should be at the Iller Creek trail head.
Planted in the fall, this place looks like it's a swamp in the spring, beware.
On foot, head south, past the gate and portapotty and begin walking down the main trail, not the little one that goes down. The walk to the box should be about half an hour. You will pass by a metal steak to the right painted red and burlap and hay bales. About half way there is a T in the trail to the left. To the right, a bunch of dead wood and shortly thereafter a small trail going down. A ways more and you will come to a Y in the main trail.
At the Y take the lower right branch. The left branch goes straight up, don't take it. Pass over a big dip full of water. Under three overhanging tree tops you will see straight ahead a tree on a bank across a clearing.
