Since this is the first letterbox in Arenac County, let’s have a look at Arenac County Park. This will be a very short walk, since it’s a pretty small park, but you might want to spend some time on the clues ahead of time.
A. The translation of Arenac, and what arena meant to Henry Schoolcraft
B. The penguin Pole
C. Style of music enshrined in a hall of fame in Cleveland
D. Shared name of a Fly By Night band, an actor who Shines, and a University in downtown Chicago.
E. The maximum number of years a Chinook salmon spends swimming around before returning to his home to spawn (and die)
F. The Euclidean name for a set of all points in a plane at a fixed distance
G. The sinister hand
Go to A, head B
Where lots of Cs meet lots of Ds
Look for one C, about E feet from the meeting point, that has an F on it
On the G side of FC, you will find wildlife that is sought after in this area
Note: during the summer, there may be a $5 fee to get into this park. Currently, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are free days, and when I planted in the fall every day was a free day.
