Kilgore Oil

CITY OF KILGORE
Surrounded by the lush green pine forests and clear blue lakes of East Texas, Kilgore has a long and unusual history that sets the stage for today´s unique community.
Plantation owners settled the area before the Civil War. Kilgore itself was established in 1872 with the coming of the Great Northern railroad. A quiet farming community of 500, Kilgore was thrust into the international spotlight in the 1930s with the discovery of one of the greatest oil fields of our time. The East Texas Oil Museum is a must see when traveling to Kilgore. Visit their website at http://www.easttexasoilmuseum.com
This box is located at Synergy Park at Elder Lake. Please take caution when leaving the trail, to keep ground cover in place.

From I-20, take exit 589 to Kilgore. As you exit, begin mileage and go 1.9 miles on Highway 259 South. (NOT business 259) Follow the signs to 259 South. Synergy Park is on the left.

After entering the park, take the first left to the parking lot. Park and head to the trail head. As you pass the Trail map, take the gravel path to the left. Continue on trail with the lake on your right until you cross a red bridge. Stay on the trail and take the second trail to the left.
Follow trail to the point Where the trail starts to make a sharp turn to the right and stop. Look to the left where there is a cluster of trees. The box is in the middle of the cluster of trees on the right. Please re-hide well and let me know the status of the box. Now, go back to trail and find Elder House Fireplace.
