Dearest,

Please know that my heart is light and filled with joy on this fair day as you have come to claim what is yours. I hope that you are enjoying a warm fall day with the slightest for breezes to whisper your name on the trail . Know that I will journey with you in thought along your path, I two have walked these steps in anticipation of your arrival. Following our encounter, I must send you on your way to find another. Please remember what we shared and know that this was done with much love.

As the days draw shorter and the skies grow more gray, the thought of you will keep me warm. The knowledge of your quest combined with the care and skill that you used to find me on the trail has stamped me with your memory forever. This will surely endure your memory to the pages of my life.

From time-to-time when I will look back upon the pages of my life and recall the day of your arrival. it will be with great reverence that I remember you and what we shared on that day. Our paths entwined on the trail of life if only but for a second….

Start your quest for this letterbox at the Hanover Junction Station off on PA 616 West of Glen Rock, PA. This box in on the York County Heritage Rail Trail between Hanover Junction and Glen Rock.. Park in the parking lot in front of the train station. You can enjoy the museum (open during the summer months). From the platform, depart the station walking to the Southeast past the sculptures. The box is about ¾ of a mile down the trail towards Glen Rock. You will cross Shaffers Church Road. You will pass a sign on the left side of the trail that says “10 Mile”. Beyond that you will see a pair of benches and a trail sign across from a large stone wall. Take in the history of this spot and try and envision it how it was 100 years ago.

From the second bench, take 68 paces further down the trail (a pace would be every time your right foot hits the ground). When you stop, you will see a yellow sign to your left (Atonemend Wildlife Sanctuary) and a cluster of trees with 14 trunks to your right. You will notice a small trail that goes up past the right side of the 14 trunks. Stop at the tree and on in the center of the trees (on the trail side) you will find the love letter box.

You can take this box back to one of the benches that you started you paces from or take it just down the trail to a covered table with benches and sit down and stamp in.
Enjoy the trail!
