The five boxes in this series are planted in four different areas, all within a mile or so of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The stamps are images that reflect some of the history and culture of the city. To find the boxes, you must reconstruct the clues from the fragments below. Each clue is composed of five fragments. The first fragment is from Group A, the second from Group B, and so forth. All fragments are used exactly once. (There's no hidden trick!)

When you reassemble the clues, hit the trails! None of the hikes are particularly long or difficult. I estimate they should each be about 30 minutes or less. Depending on how well you plan your trip, this whole series could be done in one morning or afternoon.

Fragment Group A:

* Start at the Monocacy Nature Center parking lot. Head

* Start at Water Street Park. Head north along the creek. Shortly

* Start at South Mountain Park. From the east corner of the

Fragment Group B:

* before the red gate, duck into the woods on a trail at 310*. Continue

* the trail heading southwest. When you reach a junction, cross railroad

* the lot hits the road, take a trail at 75*. Very shortly, turn right to

* southwest on the trail. At junction, cross

* parking lot, follow the treeline up hill to a trail heading

Fragment Group C:

* tracks and go right. At the Y, go 40* into the woods. Walk 31 paces. Take

* railroad tracks and head left. Rejoin the tracks, then leave

* along the creek (white blazes, THE SPOT), until you see

* take the red trail southeast. Cross a log bridge, and continue following

Fragment Group D:

* trail fades, go 110* on the trail. A chain gate guards the tower. See

* them again. On the right, a trail leads to a high wall. From

* red blazes. Watch for a depression on your right, followed 16 paces later

* a small trail on your right leading to a quarry (?) on your right. Leave the

Fragment Group E:

* by an elbow tree on your left. From the elbow tree, go five paces at 130* to a suspicious pile of rocks behind a tree.

* the rotting stump on the left?

* large mossy rock, 50* 3 paces to a suspicious pile of rocks beneath tree.

* creek, pass the stone, and immediately head east along the gravel road. Left at the T. From first stone pylon on right, 310* 7 paces, under a brick.

* a tall tree.

A bit of geographic help:

* Monocacy Nature Center is in the far north of Bethlehem, across the street from Illicks Mill, on Illicks Mill Road, about a mile east of Schoenersville Road.

* Water Street Park is in Hellertown, on Water Street about 2/10 mile west of Main St. (PA-412). Coming from 412, it's on your right just after the railroad tracks.

* South Mountain Park is just south of Bethlehem on Mountain Drive North, about 1/2 mile east of PA-378. It's a lovely place to play disc golf.

* Walking Purchase Park is in Salisbury Township, not far from Fountain Hill. From Broadway, go north on Public Road for 3/10 mile to Cardinal Dr., then about a mile or so to a lot on your right. See Lightnin' Bug's Minerals on Lehigh Mountain Series for more detailed directions.
