Jake and Elwood: The Blues Brothers
Music Box #7
Note: New logbook (#3), so Jake and Elwood are again receiving visitors. Just please, reseal the bags and the box to protect the contents and recover it well -- those groundskeepers are diligent workers! -- Viewfinder
After finishing their time at Joliet, Illinois, Jake and Elwood decided to head south for a change of scenery, and found themselves in Ft. Worth, Texas. Looking around for a good place to relax, the boys discovered the beautiful Botanic Gardens. Jake thought this looked like a “cool” place. Elwood unlocked the attaché case from his wrist and removed his harmonica and began to prove Jake right by playing the blues. Feeling in harmony with their surroundings, the Blues Brothers decided to hang out there awhile.
To find The Blues Brothers: Park in the SW corner of the lot next to the Japanese Garden. Find the trail sign for the Four Seasons Garden and look for the Blue Star. Follow this path curving to the right as it joins the paved road going generally west through the gardens toward a large round set of columns and a memorial plaque. Read about Charlie Company and the significance of the broken column.
From the plaque in the center of the columns, count 30 steps at 290 degrees to a stately Pecan tree with a marker: Oak Grove 11. From this majestic tree, count 35 steps at 320 degrees to an ancient spreading Mesquite embracing a Tree of Heaven (look for Oak Grove 9 marker). From this marker, look about 345 degrees to a group of seven large limestone rocks. Behind the center rock, under smaller rocks, you’ll find Jake and Elwood, The Blues Brothers. What to listen to while doing this search? Why, “Rubber Biscuit,” of course!
Please remember to rehide this letterbox completely. The groundskeepers here are relentless!
