Table Rock Duet
Mighty Oak and Feather

Getting there - Table Rock State Park is on South Carolina highway 11 and there are 2 entrances. For this duet, enter the east gate on Table Rock State Park Road across from the road to the Cherokee Foothills Visitors Center and Table Rock State Park Headquarters. Pass the stop sign and proceed to the first parking area overlooking Lake Pinnacle. Enjoy this lovely view.

Mighty Oak - Facing the lake, make your way to the right out of the parking area and down to a trail next to the lake. Not far down the path – with the lake on your left, you will see a pine tree leaning over the lake. If you get to the small clearing with an unobstructed view of the Table Rock you have gone too far. You have just missed the tree. With your back to the leaning tree - a few steps up the hill – behind a pine tree - under a rock - Mighty Oak rests. There really are mighty oaks near by.

After taking in the beauty of this spot, stamping in, and rehiding well, return to the parking area.

Feather – To the left of the parking area there is a trail with a few stone steps that leads down to the base of a spillway (or water fall) from the lake. Down by the stream, there is a spot where you can see a stunning view of the water fall with Table Rock behind it – take your camera. When the Kodak moment has passed, return up the trail toward the parking lot. Not far on the right is an up rooted tree. Feather fell in the V behind the root ball of the tree.

Please rehide well and don’t miss the restored lodge a little further down the road from the parking area – More Kodak moments.

Happy trails to you,
Gardening Granny and Paw Paw and Jolly Roger and Chickadee
