In the Tree

Wooded area. Wear long pants and comfortable walking shoes. (There might be some pricklers.) Bring a stamp pad. The park is open during daylight hours.

From Rt. 94 in Florida, NY.
Turn onto Bridge St. at light.
Bear right at the Y onto Rt. 41.
Stay on Rt. 41 for about 2 1/2 miles.

On the left you will pass Black Bear Camp entrance.
Watch out for jumping deer!
Pass St. Joseph’s Cemetery on the left.

Make a left into Warwick Town Park. (Town of Warwick Sports Complex will be on the right.)
Drive up the hill to the parking lot and make a left to park so that you are facing a fence and a field and the woods.

Walk straight down the hill towards the stone wall at the bottom of the hill. As you get closer you will see an opening in the wall. Go through there.
Walk straight, towards the red rabbit.
Bear left around the clump of trees.
Turn right and walk along the stream so it’s to your left.
Soon you will see a little wooden bridge. Don’t cross this bridge.
Keep going; follow the path to the right.
Soon you will see another wooden bridge. This one, you must cross.
Turn left; follow the stream the other way.
Walk until you see the big tree that is arching over the path. Stop before you go under this tree.
There is a clearing on the right side.
Walk about 13 paces to the tree that is standing alone.
Stand on its right side.
Look at the clump of trees in front of you. Walk around the right side of them, towards the biggest tree, which has some black markings on it.
A large branch has broken off the back of this tree.
Move some pieces of wood and look inside the hole where the broken branch is still attached to the tree.
