This box was placed for the Great Book Adventure Gathering held in Burroughs Park on 10-21-06.

Jennifer Chiaverini taught herself to quilt in 1994 and has been stitching, collecting fabric, and accumulating UFO's (Un-Finished Objects) ever since. She wrote The Quilter's Apprentice, her first novel, as a gift for the quilters she has known who have blessed her life with their friendship. She has since written 8 more novels, all involving the quilting world and centered around a fictional quilting center known as Elm Creek Manor. The ladies who come there to quilt are known as the Elm Creek Quilters and the quilts that they produce are the Elm Creek Quilts.
I’m a quilter myself, as you know if you have found any of my Quilt Block Series letterboxes. I love to read Jennifer Chiaverini’s novels, because I can relate to the place and the characters. I know that most of the attendees of the Great Book Adventure Letterboxing Event have never heard of this author, so I am placing this box at the Great Book Adventure Letterboxing Event as a way of introducing you to her and her books. Who knows, you might get hooked on her and maybe even on quilting!

Directions:
From Houston, go north on Hwy 249 to Tomball. Go east on FM 2910, then left on Huffsmith-Kohrville Road (FM 2978). Turn right on West Huffsmith Road and Burroughs Park is just over a mile down on the left. Continue past the soccer fields to the pavilion and park by the trail sign.

To the Box:
Go to the trail sign and continue behind it on the gravel trail, past the volleyball courts. You will pass a dirt path and then a bench, both on the right. After a short walk, you will come to a trail junction. Turn right on the cinder path and soon you will come to another trail junction with another cinder road. Continue straight across this road to a dirt papth going into the woods and follow it all the way to the end, where you will come to the pipeline clearing. Turn left and walk down the clearing, where you will see a post on your left with two sign, both of which say “Parking Area”. Turn left on this path and you’ll see a large pin with an orange arrow painted on it. Stop at that tree and look left for the next large pine tree. The Elm Creek Quilts letterbox is on the near side bottom of that tree under forest debris and limbs.
