There have been Big Foot sightings reported in Washington State as early as 1924, and as recently as June 2006! These hairy, stinky, huge, upright walking creatures have been the object of speculation for decades. According to experts Big Foot is usually shy and prefers to observe others from afar. In the back trails of Mirabeau Park, a Big Foot camp may have been discovered....
Start your search in the Mirabeau Park Parking lot. Take the paved path farthest to the east (bordering the main street). Follow until the "T" and head left. On your right you will eventually see a water fountain next to a gravel path. Follow the gravel path farther into the woods. When you come to the "T" continue right. On your left you will soon see two trees marked in white. This is the Big Foot Trail. Follow the narrow foot trail between two skinny trees, into the gully and over fallen logs. Make your way up the steep path to the top of the rocks. Head left to the opening. You will see a large mound with a single pine tree in front. The day this box was planted there was a "bed" made at this site with a stolen carpet remnant, sticks and leaves. Can you find any other evidence of a Big Foot? With your back to the tree, directly in front is a rock formation. The Big Foot rests in a hidden cave guarded by a stone.
