Placed by J & L ("Live Your Life") and the Mud Bowl Gang.

This is an easy hike of about 30 minutes in to the letterbox.

Take Route 16 to the Great Glen Base Lodge which is across from the entrance to the Mt. Washington Auto Road. Leave your car in the parking lot and pick up a copy of Great Glen Trails map at the lodge (this is useful, but not necessary to find the letterbox). Proceed under Route 16 via the tunnel. Once through the tunnel:

Go left at the white shack by the parking area. Follow the path around the parking area and along Moose Meadow on your left. Go left at the "donation booth" on to Glen Meadow Sluice (#1). Cross over the bridge over the stream. Continue straight, remaining on Glen Meadow Sluice (#2). Proceed up Great Grumpy Grade (#5). Stay on Great Grumpy Grade until you come to Twitcher (#26). Bear right on Twitcher. Go left on Libby Trace (#27). Stay on Libby Trace (#29). Go right at fork, remaining on Libby Trace (#51). About 50 yards ahead, stop at the Cabin at Angel Station. Rest up. Enjoy the solitude. Read. Picnic. Whatever.

To find your treasure, go back to the trail and head right. Immediately, you will see the sign "Great Grumpy Grade". Behind the sign and to the left is a large pine tree stump (tree was cut in 2007 due to wind damage). Behind that tree stump is a small pine tree. Behind and at the base of that tree (at the roots) you will find our letterbox. You can remove it and stamp up back at the cabin.

Congratulations on finding the Cabin at Angel Station letterbox, placed by the Mud Bowl Gang on September 10, 2006. 10 of us hiked up early that morning and had a fabulous breakfast at the cabin.

This letterbox, and several others in the area, has been placed by the Mud Bowl Gang...Jay, Linda, Roger, Rosemary, Davey, Pumpsie, Joanne, Janet, Jacqui, Paul, Patti, Colin, Mary Beth and Sarah.

Please feel free to take one of the photos of the Mud Bowl Gang (inside the letterbox) and email us if you find the letterbox has been removed or if you want to let us know if you enjoyed the hike and the location. Thanks!
