CHILI AT HURD ST. PARK

Please bring your colors, there are no ink pads, and the ‘colors’ of Mexico will be perfect—Yellow- orange- red- green – brown and blue ‘

This is an elongated loop , the whole trail runs on woods roads and is about 1 ½ miles long . Very gentle grade, no climbs and is very easy.

This walk is planned to begin from inside the park. Drive on the park road all the way to where it makes a circle and begins to go back out. Park off the circle and find the wide path at about 100 degrees—East—The other path at about 50 degrees is where you will finish this walk. Begin at 100 degrees, and notice the wooden post that states this is a ski trail and is easy . Walk along gently going up hill. Watch on the left for two very large trees. One of them resembles a tall Cactus !! Stand next to the ‘cactus’ and at 300 degrees notice a rock . The main ingredient for my Chili is hiding behind that rock.
Please hide it better than you find it ! These boxes were planted in snow and I am sure will need some help .
Continue on passing all side trails and soon see that you are at the end of this woods road. Rt. 151 comes into view. Stay left and pass the parking lot , and continue on the woods road to complete this loop. You will pass a small trail on your left with a wooden post and ski sign and now begin to count steps. At 25 steps is a tall Hemlock tree, stop here and scurry up the bank . In 10 more steps notice a dead tree about 15 feet tall. A fallen tree is at its feet and there you will find my bowl of Chili. Please cover this one well too.
Continue on now gently down hill . When you come to a pile of cut logs on the right side of the trail, stop mid way along and look north to a tall Oak tree. ‘Cheers’ is behind that tree under wood and a rock.
Continue along and soon arrive back at the beginning and your car.
Hope my Chili was not too hot for you
Happy Trails,
Butterfly
