Status of Letterbox: Alive and Well on 12/10/06
The "Know your swimming hole" letterbox is located in Double Lake Recreation Area, along with many other boxes. This a great little park, with many things to do. It also may be a good location for a future LB Event.
Directions:
From Houston, take Hwy 59 to Cleveland. Just after town, take the Coldspring exit (Hwy 2025) and go north about 16 miles to the park enterance on the right. Pay your $5 fee at entry booth, then take right and go to parking area at end of road.
To the Letterbox:
Walk on the paved path toward the spillway (water to your left). When you reach the spillway path, go right instead to the Lone Star Trail sign board. Take the left path and count 115 steps from the sign. The trail should be curving to the left, with a wooden post in front of you. Find the large pine tree to its left. The box is behind this tree covered with pine needles and sticks. Please cover it well when done.
