The Metacomet Trail crosses route 6 on top of Rattlesnake Mountain. Parking is limited, do not block driveway to the communication towers. Three miles round trip with some places that are pretty steep.
***Just west of the original parking on the same side of route six, is a brand new lot for hikers. Follow the white/blue 0.1 mi. up to the Metacomet and turn right***
Clues: Stay on blue the whole way (hiking towards Plainville) with the towers on the left for the first part of the hike. You'll be going steadily and gradually up but not steep for a bit. Eventually you'll get to a good size uphill (stepping over a fallen log part way up) and as you reach the top look for a blue blazed tree on the right with a funky looking three sister tree to it's right. Walk 30 steps directly south to a funky looking pile of rocks. In a crevice, under a brick, just below a sapling growing out of the rock will be box #1. (stamp carved by our talented rtrw)
Continue past Will Warren's Den and come to a hair pin turn that points towards a scenic lookout. Take the turn and immediately see a twin oak ahead with a log nestled alongside. Check between. Replace well hidden. Thanks.
