ATTENTION!!!!

AS FAR AS WE KNOW, THE BOX IS STILL IN PLACE. HOWEVER, WE WERE INFORMED THAT SOME OF OUR CLUES WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE DUE TO DEMOLITION OF THE AMPHITHEATER AND TEMPORARY(?) REMOVAL OF LOUIE. WE ARE NOT FROM THE AREA, BUT WILL UPDATE CLUES AS SOON AS WE RETURN TO WABENO.

NOTE: Logbook has been replaced, as well as the outer box. Please make sure the box is SEALED tightly to prevent any more water damage. The old box was left open and contents were not placed properly in the bags. Please pay attention where everything is supposed to go, and replace how it was found. Thank you.

This is the first letterbox to be placed in Forest County! Yay!

Louie the Lumberjack and Larry the Logroller were good friends in the early logging years of Northern Wisconsin. You used to be able to see Larry and Louie standing together on the streets of Wabeno after a hard day’s work. However, one fateful morning in early September, Larry made some below the belt comments about Louie’s wife LouAnn’s home “cooking”. Louie retaliated by bringing up the time that Larry fell off his log just three seconds into his first logrolling competition. One thing led to another, and the fight escalated until Larry punched Louie so hard he flew a considerable distance into the nearby park. Louie was so angry he decided to renounce his friendship with Larry and take his logging skills elsewhere. If you want to find Louie the Wabeno Lumberjack, follow these clues he gave to me.

Begin where Larry the Logroller still stands on the streets of Wabeno. Note Larry’s height in inches (A=_____), the number of buttons on his shirt (B=_____), and the number of light bulbs on the amphitheater on Larry’s right (C=_____).

Proceed to the Phoenix. Record the setting of the safety valve in pounds (D=_____) and the pressure the boiler was tested at (E=______).

Find Larry’s Landmark number (F=_____). Cross in front of the museum to the landmark numbered A – (D x F). On the way, note the number of the highway that passes in front of Larry (G=_____), the number of wooden mushrooms you pass (H=_____), and the time the museum usually opens in the morning (I=_____).

Once you arrive at this landmark, count the number of links in the chain used for a lock (J=_____) and the number of vertical posts supporting the nearest shelter (K=_____).

It should be Cleary where you go next.

Count the number of clovers on the largest pavilion in the park behind the museum (L=_____). Find the phone number to make reservations, and take a compass bearing of H degrees. Take C + G paces in this direction to a sad, old tree.

Walk along the north edge of the park and keep going until you count B warnings about the water speed; cross this wooden bridge. Write down the number of floor planks in the bridge (M=_____), the WCC number carved in stone (N=_____), and the number of trees growing on the tiny island accessible by a root bridge (O=______). Once you find these numbers, go back across the bridge.

From the top step, take a compass bearing of M + N + (O x L) degrees and walk K x I paces to a corner. On this journey, note the number of vertical posts supporting the small shelter in the area (P=_____). Once you reach the correct corner, take J x P steps at an E degree compass bearing. The box is under a rock behind a cluster of 3 trees.

As always, please be discreet and make sure to seal and hide the box well.
