Currently missing-- I failed to pull it before the annual trimming of the bushes.

8/12/07- Clues adjusted for new hiding spot

I love animation, so I have decided to create a series of boxes based on some of my favorite animated films. This series will not include any Disney films; I love Disney films, but that's just the problem-- there are too many good ones to choose from-- and besides, there are probably boxes out there for many of them already. No 3D films films will be included either; there are some terrific 3D films out there, but there's just something special about traditional animation-- and it's easier to make into stamps, too.

If there's one style of 2D animation that's thriving right now, it's anime. And one of the most popular anime writers and directors (and for good reason) is Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki came out of retirement in order to make Spirited Away, a film that was released in Japan in 2001 and the US in 2002, became the highest-grossing film in Japanese history, and won Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards. It tells the story of Chihiro, a girl who stumbles into a fantastic world filled with creatures from Japanese folklore (and Miyazaki's vivid imagination).

In the movie, Yubaba steals a character from Chihiro's name (thus changing her name to Sen) in order to enslave her. She's tried a similar trick here to keep you from finding the park where she has Chihiro and Haku trapped:

Ill Arer Park

Once you've seen your way through this trick, find the four frogs who've been turned into statues. (They must have really gotten on Yubaba's bad side!) From here you have four paths to choose from. Take the one at 250 degrees. When you hit the circle, take the path to the left, then just 6 paces down, head right. Turn right again, the next chance you get, and then right one more time at the next. When the path forks, head to the left, over the blue bridge. Make sure you hold your breath as you walk over it, so no one can see you!

Continue to follow the path until abruptly, it ends. But don't worry-- you can find it again by following the snake. Of course, to do so, you'll have to ignore the request that's written on his scales, but as long as you don't walk all the way down to where he keeps his fangs, you should be safe. Once you've found the white path again, head to the right and follow it as it winds uphill.

At the top of the hill are three benches-- but which one do you want? The one with a name, of course! Behind this bench is a bush. Under the back corner of this bush, behind the right legs of the bench, you will find Chihiro and Haku, covered with mulch. You may want to wear gloves to avoid getting pricked by the bush-- just one more of Yubaba's tricks!

As always, please be very discreet and re-hide the box carefully so that it won't be accidentally found.
