There is a Historical Marker at 601 Katy Drive in Altus that tells about the Waterbird. A mock Atlas missile was used to test the underground silo weight-and-balance systems at nearby Altus Air Force Base in the 1960's. It was called a "waterbird", because it was filled with water, rather than the liquid oxygen in the actual missiles.

Clues:
Take US 62 to Altus. A huge silver bird has landed at the intersection of 62 and Park Lane and they built a swimming pool next to it! Go North one block on Park Lane turn left on Cypress and park on the west side of the Hightower Memorial Stadium. Walk across the street and walk South along the West side of Altus High library. Next to the North side of the pool there is a huge evergreen. The box is shoulder high on the South side of the tree.
