Planted by Monkey Girl
Location: Auburn Audubon Society
Terrain: Easy
Time Required: Approximately 40 minutes

Winter has finally ended, and I was able to get out today to repair this series! All the boxes have been replaced with new boxes, logbooks and hand carved stamps. Boxes 1,3 and 4 have both the original store bought stamps placed by Monkey Girl and the replacement hand carved stamps.

From the parking lot cross the street and stop in at the Audubon building if you like. If not, follow the crushed stone trail towards the field. Go over a wooden bridge and then take a right, following the edge of the field. About 1/2 way around the 2nd side of the field, look for a small trail opening on the right. Take this and you will now be on the Red Trail. Take a left following the Osprey Viewing signs.

Box #1
Look for a large boulder that is the first in a group on the right side close to the trail. Once there, count 18 steps and there will be a stone wall perpendicular to the trail. The two stones in by the post find a hidey hole to hold your prize.

Box #2 ***was missing, now replanted***...
Shortly after marker/post #6, look for the twin birch trees and then count 21 steps to a large pine tree. Standing on the trail with the pine on your left, look right. See a flat rock on the ground. 9 steps past the rock is a dead log. Box 2 is behind the log on the left side under bark. Please be stealthy and re-hide this one well.

Box #3
At the 4-way intersection take a right and walk down this short trail to the water. It is really pretty in the fall. On your way back up the trail, look for a large birch tree laying on its side. Search near the root end on the back side for box #3. Please rehide under the rock and sticks.

Box #4
Back at the 4-way intersection take a right. You are almost to the Osprey viewing blind. Take the first trail you come to on the right. Follow this to the blind and go inside to learn about these great birds. Back outside, stand with your back to the ramp/blind , Turn left, back the way you came in and take 35 steps. Stop near the root end of a dead log and turn right. See the rock group off trail ahead. Take 26 steps along this social trail to the cluster of rocks (pass the single rock on your left.) Stop at the long low rock in front of the tall boulder.

Circle to the left to stand beside the small tree at the end of the long low boulder. Face where the low rock meets the standing boulder. Look behind the flat rock on the ground where it meets the long low rock and the standing boulder. Under sticks and bark.

Return the way you came, or turn right when you get back to the 4 way intersection and then go left at the next sign board to loop your way back to the center.

Enjoy!
