WE'VE PULLED THIS BOX TEMPORARILY. THE CITY IS INSTALLING LIGHTS ALONG THIS PATH, AND THE BOX MAY BE IN THE DIRECT LINE FOR THE EQUIPMENT. THIS BOX MAY BE OUT OF SERVICE FOR A FEW MONTHS. I'LL WATCH THE PATH AND REPLACE THE BOX AS SOON AS IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

WATCH THIS BOX FOR FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS.

Take Georgetown Exit 261A off I-35. Head north on Williams Drive (FM2338). You will be looking for the 1st stop light after the interstate / frontage road lights (about ½ mile). Turn left on Rivery Blvd. At the next traffic light, turn right onto Country Club Road and follow it until you cross the bridge of the North San Gabriel River (about .8 mile). Immediately after the bridge is Chandler Park on your right. Park here.

Next to the river is a concrete hike and bike trail.

Look for the green mile marker posts that are placed every 1/10 of a mile. You will be starting at mile marker 2.1. Every mile marker has ‘footprints’ in the concrete. Some are not at all what you would expect!

Follow the trail under the road bridge and across the foot bridge. After the foot bridge the trail turns sharply to the right.

At mile maker 1.5 (a little over ½ mile from where you parked) you’ll see tracks left by the forest itself as it marched to the river for relief from a Texas drought. You’ll also note in studying the tracks that one plant – one of the more prevalent and obnoxious found in this area – got left behind in the march to the river. Finally, look for the print of the Compass Rose on the trail. Maybe it was left at the same time the forest prints were left? Maybe it indicates the direction of their goal? Or maybe just points north. You want to go about 20 feet backward from where the Compass Rose points. There you will find the lock-n-lock box with a logbook and a print of the plant that got left behind.

Warning: Do not touch the face of the stamp or the print of the stamp until the ink dries. If you do touch this plant, call 555-1212 and ask for Cal A. Dryl.
