Difficulty rating: a slight incline about ¾ mi. long on a paved path, followed by a SHORT incline on a dirt trail.

Every time we have been on this path we have seen many rabbits and quail….so keep your eyes pealed! Snakes aren’t always there, but due to it being a sagebrush field there is always the possibility of a snake. Be wise!

Take Carson Street (the main road through town). Turn west on Washington Street. The road T’s, turn right onto Ormsby Blvd. The road curves left and becomes Ash Canyon Road. Count the garages on the white house on the right just before the double bumps, just for fun! You will be AMAZED! (Beware of the double bumps before the stop sign!) Proceed through the stop sign and turn right onto Wellington South. There will be a small grassy park just inside the gates. Park here. To the east of the park is a cement wall, behind it is a bike path. Walk back to the beginning of Wellington South street for the beginning of this bike path. Head up the gradual incline. You will pass a chain link fence, a white vinyl fence, look for the train weather vain. You will come to a crossroads of sorts. Take the smooth pass through the yellow poles. Continue and look for the runoff pond and the “diamond“. There will be a 2nd set of yellow posts signaling the end of the bike path. On the right will be a dirt lot. At the west end of the lot there is a sign indicating the “Planetary Walkway”. Head up the rock path passing Mickey’s friend on the left. Find the plant Saturn. Face Saturn and look for a pile of stones left of the boulder, approximately 25 paces up the hill. You should find the letterbox under the stones!! The planetarium is located near the “sun”.

Alive and well 5/08 (Stamp Replaced too!)

2/14 We have reports that the letterbox is MIA...we hope to get around to replacing the stamp soon!
