Historical People of Connecticut
Rated: Easy/Moderate

I am 17 and really interested in local history. I’d like to get more people informed about some truly interesting history that happened right here in CT. Around Pomfret, there are many old houses, but who actually lived in them during the 18th and 19th centuries? They are just names in old history books today. Most of the people I chose are from Windham County but a couple are from the Hartford area. Enjoy finding the letterboxes!!!!!! Send me an email if you experience any problems finding the letterboxes.

Directions: In Pomfret, at the junction of Rte. 44, Rte.169 and Rte.97, (near the Vanilla Bean Café), head east towards Putnam and park in the Citgo gas station. The Letterboxes are hidden in the Pomfret Street Cemetery, which is difficult to see from the main road. Cross the street and walk up towards the intersection. The entrance to the cemetery is between two stone walls and next to Hazelwood Fine Arts. You can’t miss it. Walk through the gates and proceed up stone walled walkway, past a group of cedar trees on your right. The second group of trees begins at the end of the walkway. At the third tree, stop and face it. Look around base of tree to find Letterbox #1. You will then find clues to the remaining letterboxes.
