This box was named for the opening scenes of The Muppet Movie, in which Kermit and Miss Piggy are discussing the other occupants of Kermit’s swamp. Since this movie came out, Kristal and her family like to pronounce “alligators” the way they do.
This box is placed in honor of another famous movie star. Morris the alligator has been featured in such box office hits as Alligator I and II, Happy Gilmore, and Interview with a Vampire. For several years now, he’s been enjoying his retirement at Colorado Gators, Inc. in the San Luis Valley. This former tilapia farm is home to 450 wild reptiles and many more domesticated ones that have been given up by their owners, including the largest boas and iguanas we’ve ever seen!
TO THE BOX
From the eastern edge of Alamosa, take SR 17 north sixteen miles to the gator farm. Take the circle drive at the end of their parking lot and stop near the willow tree on the SE side. The box is under a single rock, about a yard west of the tree trunk.
