ATTENTION: THIS BOX HAS REPLACED WITH THE NEW AND IMPROVED IM JUST DUCKY BOX. THE NEW BOX FEATURES A HAND CARVED STAMP. IF YOU PREVIOUSLY FOUND THE OLD IM JUST DUCKY BOX, TAKE THE TRIP OUT AGAIN FOR A NEW STAMP.
The Just Ducky letterbox is located near Lake Antoine in Iron Mountain.
From US2 (Stephenson Ave) take Lake Antoine Road. For the natives, this is at the new stoplight north of town.
Follow Lake Antoine Road until you get to the Wildlife Unlimited Fishing Pier. There are two entrances and both are clearly marked with signs about 2 feet square.
Park in the parking lot and find the dedication marker for the Jim and Ida Goulette Senior Citizen Park. Be sure to note the date of the park dedication.
From the marker, proceed northward counting paces until you reach the two digit number of the year. You should be near two trees at the water’s edge on the east side of the road. Don’t step on the crack or you’ll break your mother’s back.
Continue counting more paces equal to the day of the dedication. You should see a small foot trail on the west side of the road.
Proceed up the foot trail counting steps equal to the month of the dedication. A clump of several small trees on the south side of the foot trail is where you will find Ducky.
Continue on the trail and enjoy a beautiful view of the wildlife around the lake.
The box is in a clear container and contains a stamp & log book.
Terrain: Easy, with a mild uphill climb on a well worn path. Insect repellant is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED in the summer for a comfortable walk.
Distance to box: Less than a mile.
