Directions: The box in on town property behind Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee, NH. If anyone asks what you are doing, you can just say you are going to visit the chapel. North on I-89 to exit 12. Then left on rte 11 for 5.5 miles to left onto Winn Hill Road and then 2.0 miles to inn. From I-91 north from Brattleboro,VT get off at exit 8 and go east to Claremont,N.H. Take rte 103/11 to Newport and on the eastern side of Newport rte 103 splits right. Take that for 100 yards and turn left up Young Hill Road for 1.5 miles. At the stop sign, take a right. The parking lot is just ahead on the left.
A farmhouse was built in 1800 close by
In 1930, Samuel Crowther came with a twinkle in his eye.
This noted author and economist remodeled it all
To create a summer estate without a flaw.
The property became an inn in 1948,
the same year that Mt. Sunapee State Park opened its gates.
You can see the mountain from the parking lot
But what you seek is a burial plot.
From the parking lot, walk to the right down the road
With Dexter’s on your left — such a lovely abode.
Turn into the driveway and walk a straight line
between a stone shed and tennis courts so fine.
When you see a tiny pool, turn to the right.
Walk the path to see what gave Samuel’s heart a bite.
Sam and Mary Crowther had a boy named John
But he died of leukemia, this beloved son.
The couple built this lovely memorial chapel
With Tiffany stained glass windows and floors of Vermont marble.
You will find your box hidden behind the stone wall.
Line yourself up with the chapel back wall.
Then climb the wall and try not to fall.
Find a fallen tree and a log that is small.
The log guards the box — and that is all!

I didn’t carve the stamp the right way.
So the reverse image will appear — sorry!
