This is very suitable for beginning letterboxers or children. This box contains a two-sided stamp, with one of the sides carved by our son.
The box was still in place as of 9/27/10.
1. Start at the Aspen Point Campground entrance gate.
2. Head downhill toward the Great Meadow.
3. Turn toward Sunset. No, not to the west.
4. Go to the first twin posts on the left.
5. Take about 40 steps down the path.
6. Turn about 90 degrees to the right and proceed to a large stump sporting a metal wing.
7. Follow the downed tree about 12 feet.
8. Turn to your left and find the letterbox in a woody crevice behind some large chunks of bark. Be aware that small critters may live in the area, so be careful when you're poking around for the box.
BE AWARE THAT THIS WHOLE AREA RECEIVES A LOT OF SNOW IN THE WINTER. Springtime hunting should occur after the snow melts. That can be very late. Bug spray will be appreciated.
