For the past 19 years, the city of San Angelo and the Middle Concho River Park has hosted the Wool Capital Triathon during the third weekend in August. M-Dot participated in this Olympic Distance event in which triathletes swim 1500 meters, bike 40K and then run a 10K up what is known as "the dirt road from hell". M-Dot came in 16th overall and second in his age group!!

While we were out there, I planted this letterbox, the first letterbox in Tom Green County, which just so happens to be the county that my mom's family is from!

Directions to Middle Concho Park:
From Loop 306 in San Angelo, take Knickerbocker Road (I think it may be SW) heading towards Lake Nasworthy. When you turn onto Knickerbocker, there will be an Exxon station, a La Quinta and a Shell station on your right. About four miles down, turn right onto Red Bluff. As you turn onto Red Bluff, Packsaddle Barbecue will be on your left. Travel down this road several miles until you get to Middle Concho Park. The letterbox is outside of the park boundaries, so you won't need to pay the park entry fee. You may need to use a little stealth action if there are others around!

Clues:
As you get close to the park entrance booth, you should see a big oval sign in a brick planter on your right that says Welcome to Middle Concho Park. Facing the sign, walk towards your right side to the back of the sign. When you are behind the sign, look down for some pipes that run under the planter. The camo microbox is under the left side of the pipes covered with grass and mesquite beans. As always, recover well!

Please let me know if you find Wool Capital Tri!
