*** After two wonderful years, we've decided to retire this letterbox. We've moved out of the area and there is no one left to check up on the box now and again. Still, though, the scenery is beautiful and highly recommended. ***

To get to Piers Gorge: From Green Bay, follow US141N until it interesects with US8 (approximately 1 mile south of Niagara). Turn right onto US8 and continue on that road. Shortly beyond the state border there will be a sign for Piers Gorge on Piers Gorge Rd. Turn left onto the road. From Iron Mountian, follow US2 into Norway until its intersection with US8 (or Brown Ave,as it is known in town). Follow this road past the fairgrounds until you reach the Piers Gorge sign. Turn right onto Piers Gorge Rd.

Once on the road, contiune down it until you see a green sign which points north. The road forks here, and you will want to veer to the left. Stay on this dirt road (veering to the right, as you will pass two more forks) until you reach a dirt parking area. The rest of the journey will be on foot.

The trail begins behind the row of large rocks. Once on the trail, you will walk over two footbridges. Shortly after the second footbridge the path forks at a post that designates the First Pier. You will want to stay to the right and go up the rocky hill to find the letterbox, but if you have time the scenery at the end of the other trail is very nice. Once you reach the top of the rocky hill, you will see a large tree upturned with its root sticking up in the air. It will be on your left.

Keep walking down the main trail until you reach a second post that will say "Second Pier." At this post, there will be a trail going towards the water. Facing the water, walk 29 steps to a tear shaped rock where two trail meet. From the rock, turn left and go down the stair-like rock formation. Be careful as the rocks are sometimes slippery. Search for the tree with the heart carved in the bark and walk up to it. While facing the water, turn left 90degrees. Walk 10 steps to another set of stair-like rocks. A small gathering of small trees will be on your right. Turn right 90deg. toward water. Go down the rocks to overlook.

There will be a group of rock slabs set on top of one another domino style on your left. Carefully climb over them and find the two trees growing out of the rock. Behind those trees will be another tree that has curved itself into an half-oval shape. Look in the center of the oval for a small cluster of rocks. Move the rocks around until you find the letterbox.

Enjoy putting your mark on it and then discreetly put it back where you found it, making sure to cover it with the rocks that are there. After you are done, you can go back the way that you came to the parking lot, or turn left at the post and make your way down the rest of the trial with comes to a dead end at a small beach area.
