Big Foot has been spotted in Sears Bellows County Park. It is up to you to find it. There is a seasonal parking fee at the park, so I would suggest that unless you are spending the day there, you wait until mid-September.

This park has been near and dear to my heart. My family has been camping there for nearly 20 years. Each year, my son, wife and I drive down to join them. Before that I was a college student living in the area. Some of my roommates can tell you of my mid-December dip in Bellows Pond searching for a freshwater sponge for a lower-Invert class. Before that, Sears Bellows was the first over-night stop on a bicycle trip with some high school friends from Central Islip to Montauk Point. We hope that you find the park as memorable as we have.

To find Big Foot, you should probably get a trail map. If you can't get one from the park office, you can find one here: http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/publicimages/sears_map.jpg.

From the parking area, head down to Bellows Pond. Pick a direction and follow the trail around the pond. About mid-way around, on the back side, you'll find a trail heading toward Division and Sears Ponds. Take that trail. At the third intersection with the horse trails, continue 24 more steps down the trail you've been following. Look to your left and you should see a large pine tree, 13 steps off the trail. You'll find Big Foot hiding beneath some bark, branches and leaves behind the tree.

Please re-hide carefully.

Be sure and stop at the Big Duck after you've found the letterbox.
