PINE RUN LETTER BOX @ Watoga State Park in West Virginia

DIRECTIONS:

From I-64 in Lewisburg, WV head north on US 219. Follow 219 to Hillsboro and approximately 2 miles North of Hillsboro (after passing The Pearl S. Buck Homeplace) there will be a Watoga State Park sign. Turn right on Seebert Lane and follow the winding (sharp curves!!) road to a one lane bridge. You have to take turns with on-coming traffic to cross. After you cross the bridge the road will go left and right. Veer right. The road will continue to be winding and narrow. Follow this till you see the lake on the left. Just past the lake turn left. As you continue you will see the swimming pool down below the road. Just past the pool and the tennis courts you'll see a sign that says, "Pine Run Cabin Area" Cabins 21 - 34 Slow children playing. This is where you are going to stop and look for the PINE RUN LETTER BOX.
There is a small pull off there at that sign you can park there if there is someone renting the first cabin (which is cabin number # 21). If not park there at cabin number # 21.
Take the T.M. Cheek Trail 1/2 mile foot travel (only). Walk under the laurel trees and walk uphill (STEEP). Walk towards the canopy of laurels at the arch of the laurels walk seven steps (shoe size is a 6) and turn right and look at the doubled tree with laurel trees surrounding it. From there walk 3 to 4 steps up hill and under a large root with some green moss covered with leaves, branches, and a rock it the PINE RUN LETTER BOX is there.

BE VERY DISCREET AND RECOVER BETTER THAN WHAT FOUND.

WHEN YOU FIND THE LETTER BOX PLEASE NOTIFY US AT tincher5@earthlink.net and also if you leave a hitchhiker please tell us so that we can go get the stamp and stamp it in our log book. We love to have a copy of each hitchhiker that is left in our boxes.

Hope that you have had some happy hunting. Stay a while and enjoy the walk. Or take a swim in the pool if it is open. The fishing here is really good. There are even boats that you can rent and go out onto the lake: row boat and paddle boats.

If interested check on the other letter box there at Watoga that we placed called, "The Whispering Pines of Watoga".
